Neighbour Cloud

Feedback (last.fm forums)

This is a very simple tool for last.fm that shows you a funky tag cloud, or a Neighbour Cloud as I call it, which tries to visualize a “Neighbourhood Space” space between two given users. It does so by drawing common neighbours in a “name cloud” and coloring names according to their compatibility levels.

Please take into consideration that Last.fm regenerate neighbour lists every week or so, which means that Neighbour Cloud would draw you different clouds every week or so :)

Neighbour Cloud for First and Second users!

Bigger nicknames mean that this user is “musically closer” to both of you. Color is supposed to show to which one of you specific colored user is closer, but it does so in an odd way and rarely is misleading. But it does look nicer like that :)

Here is an example of a Neighbour Space between me and malv:

[upd: me and malv no longer have common neighbours, so this screenshot is an example of how we both musically changed since I wrote this page]

Now, malv is one of my top neighbours, which explains that we have many neighbors in common. For most users you don’t get any common neighbours at all. Pick the ones from your neighbourhood, or just those who seem to share your musical tastes in order to get some results.

You can also draw a cool Neighbourhood Cloud just for yourself, like this.
